
Andrew Seaborg cofounded The Capital Group in 2003. He advises families, trusts and institutions on investment management, employer-sponsored retirement plans, and financial planning.
Andrew holds an MS in Finance, Investment & Banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since 2007, he has served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he teaches Law 771: Asset Management & Financial Planning to third year law students. In his spare time, Andrew is pursuing an MA in Global Security Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Ranked number 34 on Registered Rep magazine’s list of Top 100 Independent Advisors by assets under management in 2011 (the last year data was made public), Andrew’s client base is interesting and diverse. Individual clients include shareholders of small to medium-size businesses, C-level executives at Fortune 500 companies, highly compensated professionals, and trustees. Institutional clients include national purchasing cooperatives, charitable trusts, two hospitals, a medium-sized municipality, and numerous small to medium-size businesses.
Prior to attending graduate school, Andrew worked as a statistical analyst and SAS programmer. Double-majoring in Japanese language, he also did Japanese-English translation for a Hitachi subsidiary in Tokyo.
In spring 2021, Andrew was appointed Honorary Consul of Japan in Madison, a diplomatic appointment in which he represents Japan and its interests in Wisconsin. In this part-time role, Andrew works with the Governor’s Office, legislature, visiting government officials and business executives to promote foreign direct investment, the export of Wisconsin products, and stronger bilateral US-Japanese relations.
RECENT PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Advised client retiring from privately held company with $31 million of stock and options. Established charitable foundation, gifted aggressively to next generations, and diversified wealth.
For partners of private equity firm, invested $104 million after-tax proceeds from sale of portfolio company on their behalf.
Provided financial planning support to second-generation owners of closely held company with more than $200 million of annual revenue during sale of firm. Invested liquidity event proceeds.
Implemented multiple employer 401(k) plan for purchasing cooperative with more than 2,000 members and $4 billion in plan assets.
Provide ongoing financial planning and investment management for first-ever client (since 1999), a great-grandmother with less than $200,000 in investable assets.

PERSONAL INFORMATION & HOBBIES:
Andrew is very happily married to author, pediatric neurologist, and epilepsy advocate, Kristin Seaborg.
Together, they have three adorable kids, Alex (17), Will (15) and Kalli (12) Seaborg.
For fun, Andrew plays tennis, rides his bicycle, skis and swims with the family, takes the dog for long walks with his wife, makes furniture, and roots for the World Champion (!!) Chicago Cubs.
