Andrew C. Thompson
Vice President of Qualified Plan Services
I work primarily with employer-sponsored retirement plans, group benefit plans, and personal wealth management clients. A quiet perk of working with such a diverse client base is the ability to bring holistic advice and best demonstrated wealth management practices to each client, regardless of size. Spending my time in the thick of complex retirement plan design and administration helps me advise our wealth management clients, and conversely our work with high end estate planning, investment management programs, and tax reduction strategies has made me very prepared for the times when I conduct on-site financial planning reviews with employees.
Although I’ve enjoyed modest success in my career thus far, I do not believe that a job defines a person. I believe our actions in life and in our communities speak louder than words, and that those who have been blessed with much should help those who have little. With that in mind, I take an active role in Madison. I volunteer for Wisconsin Veterans’ Museum helping to record and preserve the oral histories of our State’s veterans. I am a member of Team Rubicon, a veterans’ service organization dedicated to providing emergency response in the wake of natural and man-made disasters. I help build houses with Habitat for Humanity. I also teach scuba diving and co-coordinate several annual lake- cleaning dives in the Madison area. In the past three years, we’ve removed over two tons of trash. When I am not busy with any of the above, you can usually find me traveling through the lesser visited parts of our world on some adventurous form of transport (on a recent trip, I drove 600 miles through the interior of Morocco on a 50cc motorbike).
I attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I completed degrees in US History, Political Science, and European Studies, as well as an internship as a researcher in the House of Commons in the United Kingdom. After a brief respite, I returned to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete a graduate Masters of Business Administration program. Prior to, and during, college, I served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard and completed one tour of duty in Iraq.
And now for the truly fun stuff:
